Spring into Better Health! Spring Cleaning: 6 Ways to Improve Your Health

spring cleaning

Spring is a time of renewal, and what better way to renew your health than through spring cleaning?

As you tidy up your home and clear out the clutter, take some time to consider how you can improve your health.

Here are six simple ways to make your spring cleaning routine healthier for you and your family:

  1. Get Moving

One of the easiest ways to improve your health is to get moving. One of the best ways to track your fitness and keep you motivated is through a wearable fitness tracker.  Check out the Apple Watch Series 8 [GPS + Cellular 41mm] Smart Watch.

As you clean, take a few extra steps around the house or try some light stretches. Consider setting a goal to walk or jog for a certain amount of time each day. By adding more movement to your routine, you can improve your cardiovascular health, reduce stress, and even boost your mood.

  1. Clear the Air

Indoor air pollution can contribute to respiratory problems, allergies, and other health issues. During your spring cleaning, take some time to clear the air in your home. To learn more about indoor air pollution and the impact on our health, you can check out this study published by Atomosopheric Environment here “Indoor Air Quality and Health”

Dust surfaces, vacuum carpets and upholstery, and replace air filters. You might also consider investing in an air purifier to keep the air in your home fresh and clean. Check out the Levoit Air Purifier here.

  1. Get Rid of Toxins

Toxic chemicals are found in many cleaning products, and exposure to these chemicals can be harmful to your health. Here is a study from the NIH on the impact that chemicals in the home can have on our health.  Check it out here “Toxics Use Reduction in the Home: Lessons Learned from Household Exposure Studies”

As you clean, consider switching to natural, non-toxic cleaning products. Look for products that are made with plant-based ingredients and avoid those that contain harsh chemicals like bleach or ammonia. My favorite non-toxic cleaning products are from Puracy.

  1. Make Healthy Changes

Spring cleaning is a great time to make healthy changes in your life. Consider swapping out unhealthy snacks for fresh fruits and vegetables, or replacing sugary drinks with water.

You might also consider starting a new exercise routine or signing up for a cooking class to learn how to make healthy meals. My go to for healthy quick recipes and snacks is Danielle Walker’s book “Healthy in a Hurry”

  1. Create a Relaxing Environment

Your home should be a place where you can relax and unwind. During your spring cleaning, consider ways to create a more peaceful, calming environment. This might mean decluttering your space, adding plants or flowers, or incorporating soothing colors and scents.

I love the YIKUBEE Essential Oil Diffuser because it fills my whole house with essential oil fragrance.

  1. Practice Self-Care

Finally, and most importantly don’t forget to practice self-care during your spring cleaning routine. Take breaks when you need them, get plenty of rest, and make time for activities that bring you joy. Whether it’s reading a book, taking a bath, or going for a walk, taking care of yourself is an important part of improving your health.

Self Care Inflammation Fighter Foot Soak:

12 drops Turmeric Essential oil

5 drops spikenard essential oil

4oz Dr Teals Bath salt

Directions: add half the salt and essential oils to a 4oz jar. Put lid on and shake well. Open and add remaining salt, re-lid and shake again. Add 1/4 cup of mix to a warm foot tub of water. Soak feet for 20 minutes. Can Also be used in the bath or shower. While Showering just place 1/4 cup on the shower floor with the drain plugged.

Remember spring cleaning doesn’t have to be just about cleaning your home – it can also be an opportunity to improve your health!
